Squirrelly Stringband  “You just don’t hear music like this west of the Mason-Dixon line.” The Squirrely Stringband plays old-time southern breakdowns and backwoods mountain music. You’ll hear them belt it out at farmer’s markets, square dances, parties, and music festivals. They are the first-place winners of the 2003 and 2006 Berkeley Farmer’s Market Stringband Conventions. Members of the band are David Murray on fiddle, Debbie Berne on banjo, Allegra Yellin on guitar, and Rachel Kraai on washtub & bass.

Banjo player, step-dancer, singer, songwriter and square-dance caller with a lifetime of experience in traditional American cultural arts, Evie Ladin grew up in a trad folk scene up and down the Eastern Seaboard of the US, travels the world, and calls the rich arts scene in Oakland, California home. She tours her solo project Evie Ladin Band, with The Stairwell Sisters, all-gal old-time teardown, and Keith Terry & Crosspulse, performing rhythm-based multi-cultural music & dance works. Her second solo release is due out in May 2012.
