A humble slice of Americana gets a bracing jolt of contemporary energy with the dazzling Devine’s Jug Band, a San Francisco ensemble wise to the ways of the weird old Southwest. Launched by vocalist and jug master Pete Devine, who earned his old-time stripes as drummer in the revered ragtime band Bo Grumpus. Devine's Jug Band features fiddler/vocalist Mayumi Urgino, guitarist/vocalist Meredith Axelrod, and a rotating cast of string experts on a program of salty blues, sassy stomps, and raucous rags. This is party music for hard times, which is to say it sounds more relevant than ever.
JimBo Trout & the Fishpeople are a high energy, good-time band from San Francisco that has been together since 1992. They perform a musical gumbo made up of bluegrass, ragtime, blues, Western swing, Appalachian, rock+roll, New Orleans, honky-tonk, and more. But they are not a band that would let tradition stand in the way of a good time! JimBo Trout & the Fishpeople are known for their entertaining, energetic, and danceable live shows. The SFBOT show features JimBo Trout (guitar and banjo), Steve Neil (bass), Annie Staninec (fiddle) and David Phillips (steel guitar).
Squirrelly Stringband  "You just don't hear music like this west of the Mason-Dixon line." The Squirrely Stringband plays old-time southern breakdowns and backwoods mountain music. You'll hear them belt it out at farmer's markets, square dances, parties, and music festivals. They are the first-place winners of the 2003 and 2006 Berkeley Farmer's Market Stringband Conventions. Members of the band are David Murray on fiddle, Debbie Berne on banjo, Allegra Yellin on guitar, and Rachel Kraai on washtub & bass.
