Bay Island Ramblers
www.bayislandramblers.com
A fun-lovin’, high-octane bluegrass band, the Bay Island Ramblers feature fine old-time music and originals in their repetoire, with some traditional bluegrass, some not-so-traditional chestnuts, and some country songs to round things out. The band features Lanie Anderson-Barret who started out in the band singing lead and harmony and playing guitar, but has recently migrated to the bass; Mark Berkley who sings lead and harmony and provides solid guitar pickin’ with a penchant for minor chords; Tom Biggs whose bango playing is grounded in the traditional bluegrass style with a little Don Reno flair thrown in from time to time, and big-hearted, soft-spoken Ken Smith on mandolin, lead and harmony vocals, who previously played for the highly-regarded Bay Area group The Avocado Brothers.
