About the workshop, he says: We'll be exploring some of the variations in style and repertoire found in different areas of the Appalachians, particularly these three: VA/NC (Round Peak), West Virginia, Eastern Kentucky. So students should already be able to play tunes with a recognizable melody and solid rhythm and be ready to experiment with techniques that give each of these styles a distinctive character both melodically and rhythmically.
