Avram Siegel (True Blue, The Kathy Kallick Band) is
widely regarded as the most original banjo player to emerge from
the Bay Area bluegrass scene. His bluesy, syncopated rhythm is always
fresh and exciting without forsaking the traditional Scruggs style.
He shows remarkable restraint and taste in every musical situation.
Over the past 20 years, Avram has performed in a wide variety of
bands, from Grant Street to Vern Williams and True Blue, and the
Kathy Kallick Band, with whom he currently tours nationally and
internationally.

James has taught at for over 20 years at such places
as Ashokan, Swannannoa, Fiddle Tunes, Augusta, Fiddle Head, Puget
Sound Guitar Workshop. About the workshop, he says: We'll be exploring
some of the variations in style and repertoire found in different
areas of the Appalachians, particularly these three: VA/NC (Round
Peak), West Virginia, Eastern Kentucky. So students should already
be able to play tunes with a recognizable melody and solid rhythm
and be ready to experiment with techniques that give each of these
styles a distinctive character both melodically and rhythmically.

Rose Sinclair (of James Leva & Memory Theatre) is
a fantastic multi-instrumentalist who has taught at Ashokan and
Fiddle Tunes. She was a founding member of the Heartbeats, a neo-traditional
band that won first place in the old-time band contest at Galax,
and that toured with 10,000 Maniacs and Mary Chapin Carpenter.

Alice Gerrard (Tom, Brad & Alice, Hazel & Alice) has
taught classes in vocal style with emphasis on old-time Primitive
Baptist-style singing to early country. She concentrates on emphasizing
style, putting yourself into a song, what gives a song its character.This
class will include unaccompanied as well as accompanied singing.
Alice has taught at "Fiddle Tunes" (Port
Townsend, WA); Mars Hill College's (Mars Hill, NC) Old-Time Music
Week; Augusta Heritage Workshops (Elkins, WV), Old-Time Music Week;
Pinewoods Music Camp (Plymouth, MA), Folk Music Week; Ashokan Old-Time
Music Week (West Hurley, NY), the Swannanoa Gathering (Swannanoa,
NC) Old-Time Music Week, Gainsborough (England), String Thaw (Penland,
NC), Ozark Folk Center (Mountain View, AR), Montana Fiddle Camp
(Roundup, MT).

for both fiddle and clawhammer banjo technique.

Evie Ladin (The Stairwell Sisters & How You Duo Trio)
trained since early child-hood in the School of Step-a- Tunes &
Late Night Dance Parties, at music festivals all over the East Coast.
For ten years she toured nationally with Rhythm In Shoes, performing
and teaching a variety of percussive dance styles. Evie teaches
workshops in percussive dance and banjo nationally, at festivals
and camps such as Augusta, Ashokan, CBA Camp, and Puget Sound. The
Beginning Clogging class will give dancers the rudiments they need
to know to dance percussively to old-time music. In Adv. Beginning
Clogging, dancers will explore some more complex footwork, choreography,
and approaches to freestyling.
