Atlas Jam House Band
Jeanie & Chuck's Country Roundup
The Sibling Brothers
The Atlas Cafe, San Francisco
3 pm - 6 pm - free!
General admission. All ages.
Local fans know that there's bluegrass & old-time music
every Thursday night at the Atlas Cafe--and that on the last Thursday
of the month they can bring an instrument and play along. Over the past
year, jam host Jimbo Trout has assembled a team of regulars--the Atlas
Jam House Band, to back the newcomers and special guests. Trout (banjo,
guitar) is joined by Ted Silverman (Belle Monroe & Her Brewglass Boys)
on mandolin, Mike Staninec on guitar, and Annie Staninec (All Wrecked
Up, West of Kentucky) on fiddle.
The SFBOTF team showcased several local bands at Stage 3
during the second Strictly Bluegrass Festival in Golden Gate Park this
past October. One of them was Jeanie & Chuck's Country Roundup,
led by Jeanie & Chuck Poling, presenting a mix of bluegrass, old-time
and honkytonk country (and a dash of classic country fashion). They'll
be accompanied by Karla Solheim (fiddle), Eric Eisen (harmonica) and Matt
Small (bass).
The Sibling Brothers hail from the Santa Cruz Mountains. Inspired by
the Monroe Brothers, Stanley Brothers, and the Blue Sky Boys, Page Brownton (guitar)
and Mark Varner (mandolin) have been playing old-time country duets together since
1999 . They’ve since added Dennis English on fiddle, Bruce Maurier on bass, plus Dave
Guarente on banjo and Patrick Weldon on saw, dobro, and a wide variety of instruments.
